John Brazendale Ceramics

I studied ‘Fine Art Ceramics’ at Central St Martin’s College, London.
I taught Art for many years at St. Bartholomew’s School, Newbury and now work in The Cloud Studio, Newbury which houses the collection of my work.
I’m Chair of Open Studios WBNH and have also enjoyed showing work in Hampshire Open Studios.
My recent ‘Clay Paintings’ resulted from drawings made of Hillside Villages.
Designs were impressed into clay, dried, bisque fired and then painted with glaze. Glazes are superimposed using different ‘Layering’ techniques, often
requiring many firings.
The first series I made was of Hill Villages in the UK, followed by a series inspired by drawings made and photographs taken whilst in Italy. My latest work has been based on more local themes, Donnington Castle and various imaginary West Berkshire landscapes.
